Pre match at The Che it was noticeable that William the manager had added some squad depth to his team of barmaids; Great at the back, impressive up front with fine strikers. Unlike the Arsenal manager William saw the importance of enhancing an already good team with some astute additions.

If only the Arsenal starting XI were as attractive as the Che barmaids. The line up was, at best, uninspiring; at worst insipid.

Unlike everyone else on the planet it seems that when selling Clichy, he was oblivious to Gibbs’ fitness record and the sight of him going off injured was somehow inevitable. That Djorou soon followed was no surprise.

In this most crucial of months we have lost Cesc and Clichy, with, most likely Nasri to follow. We have a large injury list (nothing new there) Gervinho and Song suspended for acts of stupidity and still have dross like Bendtner, Almunia and Rosicky on the books. We have bought 2 young unproven players and an Ivorian with a Brazilian name who, to be fair, looks like a player.

 The next three games at The Emirates Old Trafford and the Stadio Friuli may very well define our season and it will still only be August.
